CEO of BNU Carlos Cid Álvares Tells SHEAC Students of the Century-long Roots of the Bank in Macau, and Astute Career Advice at the Third High Table Dinner

On 28 April 2021, Stanley Ho East Asia College held her third high table dinner of 2020/2021. Mr. Carlos Cid Álvares, Vice Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Banco Nacional Ultramarino, S.A. (BNU) in Macau, was invited as the guest of honour. The event was also joined by fellows and more than 100 students.

With more than 40 years of experience in the banking sector, Mr. Carlos Cid Álvares spoke of BNU’s deep roots and milestones achieved in Macau and beyond. He described with inspiring stories and thought-provoking examples. By illustrating his professional path, Mr. Cid Álvares shared insights on career planning and development for students. He aspired students not to give up and be happy when attempting to accomplish professional and life goals.

The master of ceremonies of the evening is student Ms. Lei Cheok I, Astor. Two brilliant students Ms. Yang Bohan, Angel and Ms. Wang Tzu-yen, Regina respectively performed “Sleeve Dream” on Guzheng, and “Secret” on piano.

Mr. Carlos Cid Álvares have served as the CEO of BNU since June 2018, and meanwhile holds key roles in a number of banking and business organisations in Macau. Prior to coming to Macau, he served key positions in various Portuguese corporations, including Banco Popular Portugal and Banco Comercial Português.

2021年4月28日，何鴻燊東亞書院舉行了2020-2021學年的第三埸高桌晚宴。本次高桌晚宴榮譽主講嘉賓為大西洋銀行行政總裁區偉時 (Carlos Cid Álvares) 先生。本次活動同時有多位書院非駐院導師及一百多名學生參加。

擁有超過40年的豐富銀行管理經驗及金融專業背景，區偉時總裁在演講中談到大西洋銀行在澳門的深厚根基和里程碑，並以發人深省的故事和有趣的例子來說明。在談到他的職業道路時，區偉時總裁分享了他對職涯規劃和發展的見解。他建議學生在嘗試實現事業和人生目標時要抱著永不放棄的態度，並保持積極愉快的心境。

當晚的司儀為李卓頤同學。席間，楊博涵同學以古箏演奏《袖夢》，王子妍同學以鋼琴演奏了《秘密》。

區偉時 (Carlos Cid Álvares) 先生由2018年6月起擔任大西洋銀行行政總裁，同時在澳門多家金融和商業組織擔任主要委任成員。在來澳門之前，區偉時曾在多家葡萄牙公司擔任高層管理職務，包括葡萄牙人民銀行及葡萄牙商業銀行。
