On the evening of 19 October, 2020 (Monday), Macau’s local cultural and creative brand “Good Farmer Production” was invited to Stanley Ho East Asia College for a sharing session, as one of the events of the “SHEAC 10th Anniversary Series”. Not only did students learn about 3D printing technology, but they also gained a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Macau’s architecture.
.
In 2019, three enthusiastic young people blended technology with cultural sites or buildings, printed out “houses” full of local features, created exquisite and textured Macau architectural models, and founded a cultural and creative brand— —Good Farmer Production. The college invited Alan Lao, one of the founders of Good Farmer Production (an alumnus of the Department of History of the University of Macau, also with a Master’s degree in history) to introduce 3D printing technology and the creation and development of the studio in detail. In the sharing session, Mr. Lao showed us some exquisite works made by Good Farmer Production. For example, larger ones include Frontier Post of the Border Gate, Guia Lighthouse, and Leal Senado Building (IAM Building), smaller ones include Macau’s street signs, bus stops, and even the blue compacting trash bin.
.
The participants were very interested in 3D printing technology and asked Mr. Lao questions about related models and technology. After answering the questions, Mr. Lao continued to share his personal views of 3D printing and the history and development of his studio with the students. Before the end of the event, Mr. Lao presented limited-edition 3D-printed street signs engraved with “Stanley Ho East Asian College” as a souvenir to those who won the quiz game.
