Our College Master, Prof. Kathy Luo, Resident Fellow Dr. Saul Chan, and student Ms. Lin Jiayin attended the 10th Educational Forum on the Modern Residential College System at Xi’an Jiaotong University, where they shared our experiences in residential education with over 300 experts, scholars, and student representatives.
During the visit, Prof. Luo and our staff also visited Zhongying College and Qian Xuesen College at Xi’an Jiaotong University, gaining insight into their history, core values, and vision, as well as their signature programs and activities. Additionally, a paper co-authored by Dr. Chan and Ms. Lin received positive feedback from scholars and was awarded the Outstanding Paper Award. This research analyzed about 240 student questionnaires and found that active participation in college activities enhances students’ social capital within their peer groups, thereby improving their understanding of personal development and societal dynamics while boosting their confidence and abilities in career planning.
In summary, this forum enriched our understanding of college education across the Greater China region, particularly allowing us to experience firsthand innovative practices and valuable experiences of different colleges in the digital age. These insights and exchanges will provide new ideas and references for strengthening the functions of college education and fostering innovative development.
何鴻燊東亞書院師生參與高校書院論壇並獲頒優秀論文獎
在書院院長羅茜教授的帶領下，我們於6月26日至30日參加了由高校書院聯盟主辦、在西安交通大學舉辦的「第十屆海峽兩岸暨港澳地區高校現代書院制教育論壇」。本屆論壇主題為「教育數字化轉型中的書院制創新」，共吸引超過300位專家學者和師生代表參與，分享書院教育的寶貴經驗。
羅院長一行同時到訪了西安交通大學的仲英書院及錢學森學院及書院，深入了解該校書院教育的歷史沿革、核心教育理念、主要教育項目及活動。此外，書院導師陳宇威博士與學生林佳茵合撰的論文《書院參與、社會資本與生涯規劃能力的模型研究：以何鴻燊東亞書院為例》，獲論壇專家學者高度評價，並榮獲優秀論文獎。該研究透過分析約240份院生問卷，結果發現院生能透過積極參與書院活動，強化其在朋輩群體中的社會資本，進而增進對自身發展與社會形勢的了解，提升個人生涯規劃的信心與能力。
總結此次論壇行程，豐富了書院一行對兩岸四地書院教育的見聞，尤其讓我們親身感受到不同書院在數字化時代的創新實踐與寶貴經驗。這些交流所得，將為我們探索如何強化書院教育功能及創新發展提供新的思路與參考。
